"Is There a Problem?"

With all the methods of transportation available, roadway conflicts can occur on many different levels. From a lack of bicycle lanes, to attitude problems between motorists and those using alternative transportation, to skate boarding laws, these issues affect most San Marcos residents and Texas State University student. Who has a problem with whom, and what is being done to combat these problems?




"Road Conditions"

San Marcos roadways may not always be in the best condition to drive a car, but those using alternative transportation sometimes have even greater qualms with them. Glass in the roads and uneven grounds, teamed up with the increased sensitivity of their wheels, cause bikers and boarders alike to take issue with some of the poor San Marcos roadways.




"New Look of Roads"

While some of the alternative transportation issues may take years to fix, the wheels are in motion to make San Marcos more “alternative-transportation friendly.” New bicycle lanes and routes, bike racks, and increased awareness are some of the issues being addressed right now. But is that enough?
